Padang ’s Minangkabau International Airport is easily accessible via international flights from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and daily domestic flights from Jakarta , Medan , and Batam.

GETTING AROUND PADANG

Private livery service for transfers between Minangkabau International Airport , Padang City , and Bungus Harbor (where the Ambu-Ambu Ferry docks) is available through ALOITA RESORT & SPA, if requested.

Upon your arrival in Padang , an ALOITA agent will greet you at the airport and escort you and your party to your desired destination.  We will gladly accommodate your luggage and surfboard bags, as necessary.

Local taxis are also readily available at Minangkabau International Airport , Padang City , and Bungus Harbor .

Taxis originating from the airport have set rates depending upon your destination and may be arranged through a dispatcher located in the arrival terminal.  Otherwise, taxi rates in Padang are typically negotiable.

GETTING TO THE MENTAWAI ISLANDS

From Padang , the Mentawai Islands are only 40 minutes away by plane or 10 hours away by overnight ferry.

BY AIRPLANE

Sabang Merauke Air (SMA) flies between Padang and Rokot every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

From Padang , flights depart at 9:30 a.m. and arrive in Rokot at 10:10 a.m.

From Rokot, flights depart at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in Padang at 11:10 a.m.

Cost of one-way SMA ticket between Padang and Rokot¹ 

Large parties (maximum capacity 18 passengers or 9 passengers with surfboards) may consider chartering a private flight with SMA to ensure availability of seats for their requested dates.  Please contact us for SMA charter availability and rates.

An ALOITA agent and speedboat will greet you upon your arrival in Rokot and escort you and your party to the Resort.  Speedboat transport is also available from the Resort to Rokot upon your departure.  Please note that transport between Rokot and the Resort (approximately 40 minutes) incurs a fuel surcharge of US$30 per person, each way.

BY FERRY

The Ambu-Ambu Ferry travels overnight from Padang to Tuapejat every Tuesday night and the last two Saturday nights of each month.

From Tuapejat to Padang , the ferry travels every Wednesday night and the last two Sunday nights of each month.

The ferry departs at 9:00 p.m. and arrives at approximately 7:00 a.m. the following morning.

Cost of one-way Ambu-Ambu ticket between Padang and Tuapejat¹

An ALOITA agent and speedboat will greet you upon your arrival in Tuapejat and provide free shuttle service (approximately 5 minutes) to the Resort.  This shuttle service is also available from the Resort to Tuapejat upon your departure.

1.   SMA and Ambu-Ambu tickets are subject to availability, and reservations should be requested at least two weeks in advance of your anticipated arrival in Padang .  All ticket prices are subject to change without notice.

2.   SMA passengers (adults and children 2-12) are restricted to one (1) piece of checked baggage ( 10 kg ) and one (1) carry-on ( 5 kg ) each.  Excess baggage is charged Rp 5,000 per kilogram.

3.   SMA passengers with surfboards are restricted to a maximum of three (3) surfboards in one (1) surfboard bag ( 2.50 m x 0.45 m x 0.40 m ; 20 kg ) each.  Additional surfboards are charged an excess fee of one seat apiece.

4.   There are a limited number of private cabins on the Ambu-Ambu Ferry, each with two or four single beds.  The first passenger in the cabin pays US$62.  Each subsequent passenger sharing the cabin pays US$10.
